BACHELOR IN SCIENCE (MARINE GEOSCIENCES) WITH HONOURS

  • PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program is designed to equip students with fundamental knowledge of Earth’s processes, including geology, geochemistry, palaeontology, and oceanic physical processes. It also emphasizes cutting-edge marine geoscience technologies, enabling students to analyze and tackle challenges related to natural resource management and environmental conservation.

  • CORE COURSES

Basic Earth Science, Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Exploration Geophysics, Marine Geochemistry, Geochronology and Stratigraphy, Geology of Malaysia and Southeast Asia, Petroleum Geology, Geomorphology, Geostatistics and Geological Data Analysis, Geotectonics & Structural Geology, Minerals and Rocks, Physical Oceanography, Paleontology, Introduction to Remote Sensing, Coastal Science, Sedimentology, Seafloor Survey and Exploration.

  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

STPM LEAVERS (SCIENCE)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) subject at STPM level:
• Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics T

STPM LEAVERS (ARTS)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) subject at STPM level:
• Mathematics M / Geography

MATRICULATION / FOUNDATION LEAVERS (SCIENCE / ENGINEERING / SOCIAL SCIENCE)
Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) subject at Matriculation/Foundation level:
• Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics

DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT HOLDERS
Possess a Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in a field related to the programme applied for

OR

Possess other equivalent qualifications recognised and approved by the University Senate

MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY ENGLISH TEST (MUET)
Obtain at least Band 2.0 for results from Session 1, 2021 onwards, or Band 2 for results from 2020 and earlier, subject to the validity period at the time of application.
