BACHELOR OF COMP. SC (SOFTWARE ENGINEERING) WITH HONOURS

  • PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program equips students with a solid understanding of software development theories and practical applications. It covers essential skills in problem-solving, software design, testing, and maintenance. In alignment with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), computer science and information technology are pivotal in driving social progress and fostering an information-driven society. Both fields play a key role in maintaining industrial competitiveness, and as such, there is a growing demand for skilled professionals in software engineering to meet these needs.

  • CORE COURSES

Systems Analysis and Design, Software Engineering Fundamentals, Ethics and Professional Practice, Software Requirements Engineering, Software Architecture, Internet of Things (IoT) Computing, Databases, Web-based Application Development, Systems Thinking and Logic, Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Introduction to Statistics, Software Testing, Software Project Management, Software Quality Assurance, Software Maintenance and Evolution, Network Application Development Project, Cybersecurity, Web-based Interface Design, Computer Architecture and Organization, Operating Systems, Intelligent Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, Discrete Structures.

  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

STPM LEAVERS (SCIENCE)
Obtain at least Grade C in TWO (2) subjects at STPM level:
• Mathematics T
• Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Sports Science / Visual Arts / Information and Communication Technology

OR
Obtain at least Grade C in any TWO (2) STPM subjects

AND

Obtain at least Grade C in TWO (2) SPM subjects:
• Mathematics
• Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Additional Science / Technical Graphics / Basic Sustainability / Agriculture / Home Science / Design & Innovation / Computer Science / Sports Science / Civil Engineering Studies / Mechanical Engineering Studies / Engineering Drawing / Digital Graphic Design / Multimedia Production

OR
Obtain at least Grade C in any TWO (2) STPM subjects

AND

Obtain at least Grade C in ONE (1) SPM subject:

DIPLOMA / DVM HOLDERS
For candidates with Diploma or equivalent:
• Pass a Diploma in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Information Technology / Information Systems or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50

OR
• Pass a Diploma in Science and Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.50

MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY ENGLISH TEST (MUET)
Obtain at least Band 2.0 for results from Session 1, 2021 onwards, or Band 2 for results from 2020 and earlier, subject to the validity period at the time of application.
